C a l v i n _ R a n k i n"Mutation. It is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward."
|Role Play Profile: Mimic (Currently Non-active)|
Name: Calvin "Cal" Montgomery Rankin
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blonde
Appearance: Cal's ability to duplicate powers has altered his appearance slightly in respects of gaining Hank McCoy's (Beast) abnormally large hands and musclebound (though lesser in severity) structure. Fair tousled hair decorates his chiseled face as well as a goatee.
Disposition: In his original reality Rankin assumed leadership of the X-Men, he has a commanding nature but a soft heart. He strives to find solutions to problems, which in most cases for the Exiles meant murdering, other than violent means...and has a hard time coping without some extra support. He also shares a friendship with Wolverine, both of which have a passion for some good beer and singing.
Known Superhuman Powers: As his moniker suggests, Cal can mimic the powers of five mutants. He can release or absorb powers at his own need. Two powers have been permanently absorbed: that of Colossus and Wolverine. Currently he holds three other temporary powers: Northstar's, Cyclop's, and Jean Grey's. It is known that this version of Mimic was born a mutant and is not a super powered human.
History: The start of Calvin's career with the X-Men began after he had a short run with his own reality's Brotherhood. Despite his ability to mimic all the powers of the original five X-Men, their teamwork had swayed a first encounter fight from his grasps--they beat him. Professor Xavier took Calvin under his wing at this point, though Calvin made no attempt to open up to the others. It was Jean Grey that finally cracked his shell and soon he found himself well accepted amoung his mutant peers. They held no jealousy over the fact that he "stole" their powers, but rather it bonded stronger their friendships as they shared a common skill. It didn't take long for Cal to work up to leadership--the timid Scott Summers stayed back from the responsibilities.
Rankin has since been torn from his reality and tossed about the network of other ones fixing the wrongs to repair timelines. He's shared a relationship with Blink, formerly the Tallus, an entity that gave directions for their missions, holder and leader of the Exiles. The Exiles roster has been consistantly changing. Once Blink had completed her share of missions, she returned to her own reality to presummably die. This left Calvin in a wreck of a state, but he trudged on in hopes he might one day lead his old life. All hopes have been crushed of that. He has completed his missions only to find that his own reality perished since his leave. The Timebroker dropped him off in another reality, closest to that of his own--this reality.
